Khloe has revealed the full extent of Lamar Odom’s long journey to recovery after he went into a coma following his three day drink and drugs binge at a brothel.
The 31-year-old reality star says the former NBA player is having to learn to feed himself again, and speak, as well as put sentences together.
Speaking on eLLEN, on an episode which will air on Monday, she said: ‘He is off all the machines that help his organs but he has such a long way to go.
‘He’s learning how to walk again and feed himself again and put sentences together. Cognitively there is a lot…it’s along long road ahead.
‘He couldn’t put a words together today. But he understands.’
Khloe, who was on the program promoting her new book, Strong Looks Better Naked, revealed they haven’t yet explained to Lamar how he ended up in hospital.
The sports star went into the coma and suffered from organ shut down, after he spent three days on a drink and drugs binge in Nevada brothel The Love Ranch, in October.
Khloe said: ‘I can’t tell him. We tell him he had a brain injury, I can’t tell him how that brain injury was caused. It will set him back.
She added Lamar has never asked why he is in the hospital, and they are just taking each day as it comes.
‘He’s really confused a lot we have to remind him. Every day is different.
‘Sometimes he knows who the president is, and his birthday, and other times he thinks he’s 26, and I say: “I bet you wish you were 26, so do I.”‘
She also thanked everyone for keeping Lamar in their thoughts, citing the ‘power of prayer’ as something which she and her family believe helped him recover.
She said: ‘To everybody, we are so thankful to everybody because I really do believe the prayers have really helped so much…ave been so positive.’
The blonde went on to explain she felt awkward being on the promotional trail for her new book, but the press had been scheduled for some time and added: ‘My heart and mind are in the hospital with somebody else.’
Ellen also asked Khloe how she was coping with the fact she was in the process of divorcing Lamar when the incident happened, and now she had put their formalised split on hold.
The reality star explained: ‘I’m there helping him and I love him and I’ve always loved him. And that will never change and I just feel like it’s a really insensitive thing to fast forward a divorce.’
She went on to clarify: ‘I love him and I always will and he’s a fantastic person who deserves support and love and for someone to be by his side, and for me, I’m that to him.
‘And Thank God I have a fantastic family who loves me and loves him just as much.
‘And they’re so supportive and they’re with me.’
Khloe also revealed her boyfriend, James Harden, was also being ‘understanding’ about the situation.
The pair started dating in July this year, and she went to see the Houston Rockets player in a game last month.
She said: ‘It’s definitely a very unique situation, to say the least. Yeah he’s fine with it.
‘I mean we have to communicate a lot. And he’s really supportive and great. I think the press and everything they make it more complicated.
