An earthquake was reported off the coast of Japan Saturday Nov. 14, triggering a tsunami advisory.
A magnitude-6.5 undersea earthquake was reported early Saturday morning (mid-afternoon U.S. time) about 88 miles west of Makurazaki, Japan, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
A tsunami advisory was issued for some of the southern islands of Japan, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
There is no threat of a destructive, Pacific-wide tsunami hitting Hawaii or the U.S. West Coast, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
