It is easy to focus on problems, limitations and shortcomings. It is convenient for some to keep dwelling on missed chances. The terms 'Had I known' and 'If Only' are commonplace in situations like this. Unfortunately, regrets and self-pity add nothing positive to our lives. They only lead to inferiority and in extreme cases, depression.
Things may not always go the way we've planned them. I'm not disputing the fact that it may have been better. It could also have been worse. Before you start worrying about that luxury car you can't afford and the glamorous life you ain't living, realise that some just beg to be alive. So many wish they could see, eat, go to school, etc.
We are not better than some people on life support, some beggars on the street, school drop-outs or even the dead. Many of these folks are only guilty of making one wrong move. Yet, most of us have made several wrong moves and have been blessed with numerous second chances.
We just have to be grateful to God for our lives, jobs, food, families, achievements and even our problems. Trials make us appreciate the good times, experience what others are going through and draw us closer to God. Seeing every rising and setting of the Asun is a blessing. Cultivate the habit of gratitude and you'll live longer. God Bless us all.
