Why Buhari could face mass rebellion soon -TUC

Chairman, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, Rivers State chapter, Chika Unegbu, has warned that if President Muhammadu Buhari does not with immediate effect, initiate formidable plans to engage the people with the true position of things, it may lead to widespread rebellion considering the lofty promises made by the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Unegbu made this known in Port Harcourt, and said the plummeting oil prices which have been fluctuating between $48 and $50 per barrel could see Buhari fail to deliver his huge campaign promises by 2019.
The APC had promised Nigerians the revival of the Ajaokuta Steel Company, ensuring the Nigerian economy became one of the fastest growing globally, generation, transmission and distribution of at least 20,000 MW of electricity within four years, increasing to 50,000 MW with a view to achieving 24/7 uninterrupted power supply within 10 years and three million jobs per year amongst others.
TUC had previously countered Central Bank Nigeria, CBN position on the economy insisting that the economy had already gone into recession.
Unegbu however urged the oil and gas sector, the Nigeria Labour Congress and the TUC to collaborate with the federal government to create an effective strategy to protect its people from the unpredictable change of global politics, fluctuating oil prices as well as other challenges the nation was experiencing under the APC-led Government.
