Nigeria is on the verge of making history. This has turned out to be most keenly contested election in the history of Nigeria. Never before have Nigerians been this eager to make their voices heard. No incumbent President has been voted out yet. This record may be broken today. If that happens, it's a victory for Democracy. It may however not translate to a turnaround in our economic fortunes or the much adduced change.
I have to applaud the relative atmosphere of peace that has pervaded this election. Despite the political tension and reports of skirmishes in few places, this election has been relatively peaceful. This has to be sustained irrespective of who is declared winner at the end of the day. So many ambitions may be crushed and billions lost, but Nigeria should come first.
Lessons must be learnt and steps taken to correct observed lapses in the election process. I must congratulate the incumbent Government for setting Nigeria on the course for credible elections. The importance of this cannot be overemphasised, especially in our peculiar circumstances. The PDP led Federal Government has shown maturity and sportsmanship in this regard.
Nigeria has moved a step forward regardless of who wins. Our leaders must have realised that the people of Nigeria can no longer be taken for granted. Gone are those days, now we mean business. We need to improve upon our achievements and make corrections where necessary. Nigeria is on the right part. Together, we shall OVERCOME. Say no to violence and let the courts decide. God Bless Nigeria.

Though he lost the election, but he won as a Nigerian fighting for true democracy to stay where indeed the choice of the people will prevail. He will always be remembered as victor in peaceful democracy and still the best president this great country has had.
ReplyDeleteHe has proven to be a true democrat and a man of peace.
