Hours after Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Bahrain cutoff diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the foreign ministers from Egypt and Oman both sharply criticized these countries for creating turmoil in region. Saudi Arabia attempted to get several Arab League countries to cut off diplomatic relations with Iran after they unwisely forced the Iranian ambassador and his staff to leave the country.
The Egyptian and Omani governments rebuked the Saudi regime’s diplomatic war against Iran, stating that they refuse to follow suit and create unwarranted hostility between their nations. The Saudi regime has a long history of opposing Iran, dating back to the Iran-Iraq War when they funded Saddam Hussein’s war machine against the newly created government of Iran. Egypt, Iran, and Oman enjoy friendly relations with one another; in fact, the latter two nations have entered into a naval pact that requires them to conduct military exercises together.
