Supreme Court judgement didn't sack us as Senators -Oduah

Following reports of her sack by the supreme court ,Senator Stella Oduah On Friday in Abuja, described as such reports as “a misinterpretation”. It was reported that, the court had ordered the replacement of Oduah and other federal lawmakers from the state saying that their nomination to contest in the 2015 election was wrong. In a statement issued by Cynthia Ferdinand, Press Secretary to the Senator, Oduah said the judgement of the Supreme Court said that it was only the National Executive Council of a political party that had the legal right to sponsor candidates in an election. Oduah, therefore, stressed that she and all the other lawmakers from Anambra state have not been sacked by the Supreme Court contrary to media reports. “It is pertinent to note that this is a mere misinterpretation of the Supreme Court rulings and‎ should be disregarded in all entirety‎. “The Supreme Court did not order the withdrawal of the Certificates of Return issued by the Commission. “It did not hold that the faction of the PDP had the right to sponsor candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “It did not equally authorise the Commission to substitute our clients with the individuals whose names were on the list improperly allowed by the Commission, “Series of judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria states that it is only the National Executive of the party that has the vires to sponsor candidates,” she said. 'Buhari is a tyrant, transforming Nigeria into a police State -Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie

In a statement issued yesterday in Lagos, by the Director of Social Communications of the Diocese, Monsignor Gabriel Osu, Okogie, accused President Muhammadu Buhari of acting disdainfully towards the judicial authorities while millions of Nigerians are abandoned to face unimaginable social problems.
Eight months into his presidency, President Muhammadu Buhari has been accused of questionable leadership, oppressing Nigerians and waging a shoddy anti-corruption crusade.
This position was expressed by Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, yesterday.
Okogie urged the president to retool and lead by example on all fronts or risk plunging Nigeria into a state of despondency.
According to the miffed senior cleric, “He (Buhari) must retool, refocus and aggressively face the social, economic (fiscal and monetary) problems we have head-on, without letting the anti-corruption drive look like a political distraction.”
The eminent clergyman, who expressed disenchantment with President Buhari’s style of government, said: “A snail-paced and disordered methodology in governance, his apparent disdain for judicial authorities and decisions, a lost today and found tomorrow 2016 Budget debacle, and a rather rudderless and confused Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with an unclear monetary policy strategy (inevitably increasing the economic uncertainties being faced by Nigerians), have set alarm bells ringing in my mind and in the minds of many discerning Nigerians.
“Indeed, his perceived discordant relationship with the leadership of the Legislature has many naysayers chuckling and remarking that President Buhari’s government is heading into his comfort zone, a one man show.”
Okogie also noted that “a lot of Nigerians are beginning to feel that Buhari is fast transforming this nation into a police state where the president, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Security (DSS) rule the day.”
Okogie continued: “What they say is given lurid headlines in the media, and it seems to all that some of the defendants cum accused persons are being tried in the press with information conveniently slipping into the hands of the press, presumably from the security agencies, even before such people have been charged to court.”
The Cardinal also frowned at the President’s refusal to heed the court pronouncements on the bail granted to the Director of Radio Biafra, NnamdiKanu and former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
He said: “The pro-Biafran activist, Nnamdi Kanu and the erstwhile NSA, Sambo Dasuki, were granted bail by the courts but such bails were disregarded by the security agents under Buhari’s watch.
“Unfortunately, democracy is difficult and this government must realise that democracy pervasively coloured with impunity, arbitrariness and highhandedness, cannot be used to fight and correct the financial impunity and reckless abandon of the previous administration, even if it is more difficult to do so; the rule of law must be obeyed and be the order of the day.
“If Buhari wants to leave a creditable legacy come 2019, he should retool the bureaucracy. For instance, the roof of the Central Bank is leaking water.
“Governors, who arm-twisted Okonjo-Iweala into signing out our reserves held by Central Bank, are today ministers in the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
“We are still talking about change and corruption when old things refuse to pass away! These political gimmicks can only carry away gullible or naive Nigerians. President Buhari should beam his flashlight on policies and programmes that will lift up the masses.
“Existing industries are almost dead and they call for urgent revitalisation. The budget ought to aid solutions to the mass unemployment, rural-urban migration, skewedness in the distribution of income, abject rural poverty and industrialisation of rural economy.

'Tension in Villa as two Ministers challenge PMB'

Reliable sources have alleged that two top ministers nearly escaped being sacked by a whisker for daring to stop President Muhammadu Buhari, from signing a bilateral agreement between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, UAE.
According to the sources who confided with an online portal, they alleged that the Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun and her counterpart in the Budget and Planning Ministry, Udo Udoma, were said to have disagreed with Buhari and considered the commercial and trade agreements signed between Nigeria and the UAE as being against Nigeria’s best economic interests.
The Federal government had on January 19, 2016 reportedly reached an agreement with UAE which focused on four judicial issues: extraditing criminals in the UAE to Nigeria, the transfer of imprisoned and sentenced persons, mutual legal assistance on criminal matters and mutual assistance on civil and commercial issues.
The bilateral agreement expressly relates to the “recovery and repatriation of stolen Nigerian assets.”
Ahead of the signing of the agreements, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, stated that, “Nigeria also expects to get more support from the UAE for its war against terrorism and the recovery of Nigeria’s stolen funds.”
The treaties had caused rift among Buhari’s cabinet members who were suspicious of the economic repercussion of the agreement.
The vocal dissenters, according to sources, were Adeosun and Udoma, who counselled Buhari not to sign those agreements.
Sources revealed that Buhari was however, not interested in his ministers’ arguments that the economic agreements between Nigeria and the UAE were weighted against Nigeria’s interests.
“Mr. President was focused on doing whatever was necessary to repatriate stolen funds and extradite criminals hiding in the UAE,” said one source.
He added, “He was so concerned about that sole issue that he became incensed about the warning from some members of his team. At one point in the debate, Buhari declared his readiness to relieve Mrs. Adeosun and Mr. Udoma of their portfolios if they did not drop their opposition to the agreements.”
Another source states that the two ministers realized the importance of identifying and reclaiming assets illicitly stashed away by corrupt Nigerians in the UAE, especially in Dubai.
However, they felt that Nigeria gave away too much in terms of its bilateral economic interests in order to achieve the president’s major goal.
When Post-Nigeria contacted one of Buhari’s spokesmen, Femi Adesina, to confirm the story, he stated that the actors in the story are in better position to speak.
“Please, can you contact the actors involved to get clarification.” He stated
He then added, “All I know is that the president has a good working relation with his ministers,” he stated and ended the call, signifying a tense atmosphere in the villa.”
Adesina had earlier stated in a statement that, “Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and the UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Obaid Attayar, signed the Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement, while the Minister of Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah signed the Agreement on Trade Promotion and Protection with the UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs.

Performing oral s*x dramatically raises your risk of developing throat, neck and head cancers, a new study has claimed.
cancer
A study of more than 96,000 people conducted by Dr. Ilir Agalliu and colleagues at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York has found that about 70% of all head and neck cancers come from human papillomavirus (HPV).
At the beginning of the experiment the participants took a mouthwash test for oral HPV infection to prove their are cancer-free. Four years later 132 of them had developed some form of head and neck cancer. Then their mouthwash samples were compared with the samples of 396 healthy people.
And it turned out that people with HPV-16, which is typically transmitted during intercourse or oral s*x, were 22 times more likely to develop oropharyngeal cancer than were those with no detectable trace of the virus HPV-16 in their samples.
Actually, HPV itself doesn’t cause cancer, but certain strains do, causing fatal changes in the cells of the throat and mouth. Around 15 strains can cause cervical cancer but HPV- 16 and HPV- 18 are the most dangerous.
They are passed through s*xual contact and are known believed to beat cervical cancer as the main cancer caused by HPV by 2020.

Don Jazzy, Olamide and the Hyundai Skelemba -Charles Novia

The Headies 2015 ( which ironically held on the first day of 2016) was an anti-climax after that.
And perhaps the public tantrums of both Don Jazzy and Olamide were the highlights of what was before then an above average telecast with glaring lapses which could have been remedied with more precision.
When the artistes nominated in the ‘Next Rated..’ category were shown in a mini-documentary somewhere in the show, taking photo-ops in the Hyundai SUV and pleading for votes from their fans so as to win the prize, I told myself after seeing the earnest expectations on their faces that this category would surely be competitive but would have some bad blood drawn thereafter.
