TRANSFER BLUES

I really wanted to give football a break but I just can't. It comes with the terrain I guess. The rumbles in the transfer market can be likened to a battle of wits between Generals. From Spain to England, Germany, Italy and the rest of Europe, the football battlefields are being prepared for war. The Pre-season games are ongoing and offer the coaches an opportunity to make tactical twitches to their squads. August promises to be enthralling.

In England, Manchester United seem to be going for the kill if transfer deals are anything to go by. The signing of Schweini, Depay and Schneiderlin attests to this. Liverpool also seem to mean business with their capture of Firmino and most likely, Benteke. Arsenal's Cech scoop may also turn out to be a massive transfer coup. Manchester city's capture of Sterling (for a bloated sum) and Delph may prove strategic. Same goes for Chelsea's squad retention with possibilities of a late deal on the horizon. That's quintessential Mourinho.

Fireworks are also expected in the Spanish League as Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid take aim at Barcelona. The gods of Madrid are displeased with Barca's dominance last season and will be looking to avenge last season's defeat. Rafa Benitez wasn't a popular choice with the fans but his doggedness may prove vital. The signing of Kiko Casilla from Espanyol to replace Casillas, the Legend also bodes well for Los Galacticos. Farewell Saint Iker. Bring on La Liga. We are ready for battle. We expect a tight contest between Barca's MSN, Madrid's BBC, Athletico's fighters and any new additions. I still expect Rafa to sign a striker to reduce the scoring burden on CR7 and compete with Benzema.

Italy is still tilted in favour of Juventus but Roma, Napoli, Inter and Milan may put up a fierce fight. The exits of Tevez, Pirlo and seemingly Pogba leaves a void in the team. However, Max Allegri can be trusted to fill them. Mandzukic has been signed already. Others are sure to follow. Milan has snapped up Luiz Adriano and Bacca. That's a potent attack if you ask me. Napoli should be able to deal with Rafa's exit. Roma is expected to give Juventus a better contest this season.

I don't expect a change of guard in Germany or France. Pep's Bayern will most likely beat all comers as usual. PSG may extend their French dominance for at least one more season. Angel Di Maria's rumoured desire to move to France may be an added boost. Portugal, Turkey and the rest of Europe should attempt to turn up in the UCL next season. Europe never disappoints. We don't expect less. I'm eagerly waiting to kiss the boring weekends goodbye. It's official, football is a drug. We want more. Football lovers, what are your expectations? Au revoir.
