RUSSIAN AIRLINER CRASHES IN SINAI, EGYPT

The Kogalymavia passenger plane, flying from Sharm el-Sheikh to Russia, was last heard from shortly after taking off from the Red Sea resort.


A civilian passenger plane carrying 224 people has crashed in Egypt.

The airliner took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik this morning, and was heading for Russia, according to aviation sources. It's believed the plane was mainly carrying Russian tourists.

Egyptian authorities have found the plane and recovery and rescue efforts are ongoing. It's rumoured that voices have been heard from the wreckage and bodies are being evacuated. Details are still sketchy.
