TWO NYSC MEMBERS DIE IN ROAD ACCIDENT ALONG TARABA-BENUE ROAD


Two members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been confirmed dead following a ghastly auto accident along the Taraba-Benue Expressway.

Update on 18-year-old lady who went missing from her home in Kano

Two days ago, we reported on 18-year-old Hafsat Surajo who went missing from her home in Kano and was yet to be found after two days (Read here). The good news is that Hafsat has been found and is home safe though the circumstances surrounding her disappearance is quite bizarre.

 LIB spoke with a family member who revealed that Hafsat was found in a remote village called Gano which is miles away from Hafsat's home. She was found by little boys wandering about alone in a remote farmland in Gano, Kano State. The young boys went on to report their findings to members of the community who then took Hafsat in and asked her a few questions.

A murder plot devised by a father was exposed when he accidentally texted his former employer instead of his hitman, court documents suggest.

Jeff Lytle, of Monroe, Washington, reportedly intended to text a man named Shayne.

Prosecutors say he'd hired the man to kill his wife and four-year-old daughter for their $1.5 million life insurance payout.

LOOT RECOVERY: Whistle blowers may be entitled to between 2.5%and 5.0%- Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said the Federal Government's Whistle-blower policy has started yielding fruit as it has so far led to the recovery of US$151 million and 8 billion Naira in looted funds.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday, the Minister said the looted funds, which do not include the $9.2 million in cash allegedly owned by a former Group Managing Director of the NNPC (which was also a dividend of the whistle-blower policy), were recovered from just three sources through whistle-blowers who gave actionable information to the office of the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation.

NIGERIAN PROFESSOR 'DISCOVERS CURE FOR HIV/AIDS'


Prof. Francis Otunta, the Vice Chancellor (VC), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in Abia, has confirmed the discovery of a new drug for the treatment and cure of HIV/AIDS.

Otunta told newsmen at the university campus on Wednesday that the finding followed years of scientific research by the institution.He said that the breakthrough was made by Prof. Maduike Ezeibe, a researcher in the university.
